About This Page

Welcome to my site all about the world of tattoos! I hope to educate on everything tattoo from current trend designs to how to do your own tattoo from home, with a stress on safety and planning.

Though started as a School Project, this page has became a home for me to do my own research, to learn more than I knew, prior to studying a chosen blog topic. I have always been taught the best way to learn is to teach, so I am doing just that!

I am nowhere near a professional and do not have a degree but I hope to spread knowledge on the subject to help destigmatize the art in a positive manner while inspiring those who are already pro-tattoo!

Post-tattoo Care

Getting a tattoo is an exciting time but you have to be responsible with it before you show it off! Luckily it is not hard to keep maintenance of the tattoo and I will briefly give you a run down of how this is done.

First, do not remove the bandage until 24 hours after the tattoo. Next you will apply a layer of antibacterial ointment, I use green soap, twice a day but this time, don’t put on another bandage. Let the tattoo breathe while not getting it dirty. For the remainder of the recovery, wash it several times a day with soap and water and pat the tattoo dry.

Below is a short video guide of the process.

Tattoo trends for 2020

Tattoos are becoming more socially acceptable to western society year by year resulting in trends which are more, “In your face!”.

Speaking of “In your face”, neck tattoos are on the rise. Though to most this is extreme, society is slowly becoming okay with this. Typically people get neck tattoos on the left or right side of their neck, specifically behind and under the ear.

Hand Tattoos are speculated to be the biggest tattoo trend of 2020 as it was in 2019. The hand is an amazing canvas for any tattoo lover as it is shown off at all times of day. Day by day people are expanding from their arm down to their hands for more space for their art.

Main two types of tattoos

Hi all! In this post I will be briefly covering what the two main types of tattoos, stick and poke and machine, are and how they are preformed.

First I will go over stick and pokes! The name almost explains the process for you; you use a needle and repetitively poke a needle with ink on the tip into the skin one at a time, poking and sticking.

For the machine it is the same concept but the machine does the movement of poking and sticking for you, at a faster rate than a human could; typically around 40-60 times a second!

It is important to use professional sterilized tattooing needles for safety and results with either technique. The difference between a normal needle and a tattooing needle is that tattoo needles have multiple tips on the end as detailed in the photo.
